Full Description

NW field of large scheduled area - see IKL 020 for SE field. IKL 018 (villa), 033 (1974 excavation, lead cistern & cemetery), 034 (lead cistern) and 064 (road) also within Horselands field. Formerly listed as part of IKL 020.
1951: Report on IKL 034 mentions "many coins, particularly fourth century, have been picked up in this field" (S1)(R1).
Oct 1951: Briscoe records "building material ploughed to surface & many coins. Decorated Samian sherds close to villa" and defines large area E of villa (S1)(S2)(R2).
November 1971: "Field evidence would suggest that the main villa buildings were to the NW of the (villa) site marked by the OS" (S3).
September 1973: Field walked by Howard G Pell. Finds include pottery scatters including some dense patches and large quantities of tegula & imbrex with marked concentrations - see (S4) for details.
