Full Description

Ice-house serving Redgrave Hall (RGV 014) & Redgrave Park (RGV 022). Shown on OS 1:10560 and 1:10000 maps (S1).

1990: The icehouse was very overgrown, and access not possible. Situated 800m from the hall. The structure was c.4.5m in diameter, built of brick with a domed roof and was set deep into the ground. Ice was sourced from Regrave lake. The hall was demolished in 1947 (S2).

Grade II listed: Ice house for Redgrave Park Estate. Late C18 or early C19. Header bonded mixed red and stock brick. Circular on plan. A domical vault narrowing towards base, an iron bar across for raising ice locks. Entrance by a short barrel vaulted passage. The ice house is built above ground level and is covered by a large mound of earth (S3).
