Full Description

Discoveries made during excavation of sewer trench between Bury St Edmunds and West Stow sewage works in 1886/7 include `on the Fornham Road some similar pits (to some discovered near Hengrave water mill - see HNV Misc Un), in which were fragments of black, Roman pottery, have been found' (S1). Also Pal.
