Full Description
Group of unglazed and part-glazed pottery sherds, C13-C15, lava mill stone fragments, oyster shells and a piece of burnt daub. A slight lump had been visible in this area when the field was still old pasture. Land is now ploughed and cobbles are evident in the area near to the Babb's Lane entrance. Found 1988 (S1).
Bronze seal matrix found 1990: pointed oval shape, stag being attacked by a hound, inscription - +S'PETRI CON'CAPELL'ICISUINIENSIS (`The seal of Peter Coh Chaplain of Icisuin'; the identity of `Icisuin' is unclear, perhaps Ixworth was intended)(S2).
