Full Description

Bronze head, hollow casting, worn, traces of tinning on right eye. Bacchus rising from a calyx - Bacchus resurrected as in Eleusinian myth of Dionysus- Zagreus. Probably an applique fitting from a casket or piece of furniture and not necessarily from a shrine (S1).
Metal detector find (S2). Also 14 coins (1 C2, mostly radiates of C3 or C4), a Samian form 33 rim and greyware sherds. Mostly metal detected. Further coins (C2-C3) and brooch fragment (S2).
