Full Description

Oval patch of dark soil, approximately 40 sq metres with a concentration of C12-C13 pottery sherds and burnt flints, was identified in fieldwalking. The field name is shown as Thorpe Hall on a map of 1769 (S1)(S2). Also lava quern fragments (S3).

Further Med pottery, again concentrated in the area of dark soil (S4). See also Rom.

The medieval scatter is shown on a map by E Savery c. 1992 as centred TL92147224, with the main Roman area adjacent to the south-west (part of IXT 003). A mixed bag of finds from both areas contains more medieval coarse wares and a fragment of lava quern (at SCCAS, JP 2015)
