Full Description

Naviculum: bronze time and latitude measuring instrument, boat shaped (navicular).
Circa 100m S of Abbey remains, SBT 002. "Mid C15 modification of an earlier Arabic astronomical instrument designed for time-keeping, known as astronomer's ship dial (or zaouraq or navicula). Could operate as a sophisticated sundial, with scales for unequal hours and a proportional square (S1)(S2).
