Full Description
Pottery sherds, mainly grey wares with a few red ware sherds, a coin of Faustina I (AD 141) and bronze brooch of Langton Down type (C1 AD).
1990 & 1991: also coin, brooch (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)
(S1), Colchester derivative brooch (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S2), coin of ?Vespasian and head of C2 bronze pin (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)
(S3).
Area of pottery scatter found to extend much further S and a concentration of larger sherds and tile fragments (mainly floor (?) and two box tile fragments) located at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)
(S1). Further tile (tegula and floor) and pottery including samian, Oxford mortarium, colour coated found in mid 1990's in this specific part of the site and at SCC.
Pottery includes Oxford, shell gritted and late grey ware forms, but the general scatter also includes C1 and C2 grey wares (S4).
Also Preh, IA & Esax brooch fragment.
Originally Bardwell parish but, since parish boundary changes, now in Stanton.
