Full Description
Miniature `celtic' stone head (R1). Described by Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology as carved celtic stone head made from fine grained sandstone (possibly glacial erratic from Yorkshire?). According to Southampton University (un-named person/s) is smallest yet encountered, probably a portable amulet. Found by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) in May 1973 (S1).
1991: Examined by Brian Charge - apparently chiselled off larger block of grey stone. Described as having a lined brow; thick, wide mouth, high cheek bones. The nose is missing and there is minor damage to lower left side of chin and top of forehead (S3).
