Full Description
Rom material in `Dunwich Collection' - `donated mainly by C Watling, who (is) known to have collected in village & beach. Some of coins from Barne & Silot(?) Thompson & Layard Collection (presumably found in Dunwich but I don't know for sure)'. Listed Rom finds include:- `about 40 coins. Mainly C3, some C2 and some C4 (501-525D); base of a grey ware pot (from Minsmere area - see Misc); disc brooch (sketched) with four circular knobs, red and blue enamelled panels, `W 2.8' (?Width 2.8cms?); T-shaped bronze bow brooch with `raised crest down centre' (?Colchester derivative); two hexagonal bronze brooches with dotted decoration (sketch) `W 2.1cm'; buckle (?Rom); tweezers (?Rom); `Scale beam (?Rom -cf Guildhall Mus(eum) pl XIIIg, p37 (1- 7D)'(S1)(R1).
