Full Description

Rom features and finds exposed when topsoil stripped for new road to Ellough Airfield Industrial Estate. Features seen and pottery & tile fragments collected in area of junction with Beccles by-pass (S1). Pottery, box tile, two coins (?Faustina and Licinius AD 307-318) and top stone of puddingstone quern found in same area (S2). No material evident on rest of new road to S (S3).
Previous finds in this area include Rom pottery from NHC 004 and two Rom coins (one early C4, the other Valens rev: Salus Reipublicae AD 364-378) found somewhere in this vicinity (S4).
Coin, Follis of Constantine I AD 313-315, minted at Trier RIC Vol VII 39. Diameter 22mm (S5).
