Full Description

Various Rom finds reported to E of bath house and pit excavated by IPSMG - FNM 001. ?Part of same complex.
1971: `Pre-excavation perambulation of the area (of FNM 001) by a local resident apparently produced a quantity of bloomery slag' (S1).
March 1973: `Ipswich Museum hope to investigate an area of Rom tile finds at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) at a future date' (S1). Suggested as possible Rom tile kiln by 1978 (S1)(R1)(R2).
1990: (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) - metal detected finds include thistle type brooch fragment, cf Hattatt 279, C1; bronze terminal, recessed head type (cf Gestingthorpe); ?buckle tongue (?Rom) and coins from Hadrian to Constantine. Further coins on (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S2)(S3).
1991: Metal detecting in area around FNM 001 produced coins (up to 350's), brooches, pin, intaglio (S4).
