Full Description

During underpinning following fire in Grade II listed early C16, 3 bay timber framed former dairy, "large tablets of stone" were encountered. These consisted of 3 large blocks of undressed septaria (circa 20cm x 40cm x 60cm) and one slightly smaller block of conglomerate. They were found roughly in an `L' shaped pattern with a thin layer of mortar and clay above. Possible building foundation or blocks of septaria quarried but never used - according to owner smaller bits of septaria are found all over garden (S1).
