Summary

1991: Two burnt flint patches, at TM 4526 7680 (context 0002) & TM 4521 7682 (context 0003), discovered during watching brief after topsoil clearance for construction of ornamental lake in Henham Park, situated on N edge of valley bottom.

Full Description

1991: Two burnt flint patches, at TM 4526 7680 (context 0002) & TM 4521 7682 (context 0003), discovered during watching brief after topsoil clearance for construction of ornamental lake in Henham Park, situated on N edge of valley bottom. Excavation of area around burnt flint patches by hand - numerous small burnt flints but no features. If cooking pits existed then probably slightly to N. A moderate scatter of daub fragments found in scatter 0002. Also a few flint flakes, 2 blades (one quite large) and Med sherd recovered from topsoil stripping spoil. Samples taken blut no direct dating evidence (S1)(S2).
In similar situation to further excavated burnt flint patch, HAM 013.
