Full Description
Scatter of Roman grey ware sherds, including fragments of large storage vessels (S1). Pottery includes C1 Belgic types. Large piece of slag with rounded edge - ? preserving shape of bowl furnace.
Additional material found 1992 and 1993, including more slag and some probable iron ore, also lava quern fragment (S2).
1994: Additional material, mainly early Rom grey wares, but also 2 sherds of late Rom shell-gritted ware (S3).
1995: Metal detected finds by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), who defines site differently than on earlier occasion/s (see map, S4). Finds include 4 brooches (2 Colchester derivative rear-hook, 1 Langton Down and 1 octagonal plate type), 1 possibly late Rom strap end (?) fragment and 2 coins. Details and drawings in file (S4).
