Full Description
Gilt bronze cloisonne disc brooch with 7 turquoise coloured lobes. Centrepiece in form of seven(?) armed star (or six with one arm drifted apart?), outer dark blue enamel, inner lighter blue. At centre spiral curl of sheet metal. Gilding mostly gone. Enamel missing from in between `drifted' arm of star and two of lobe `beads'. Pin missing and catchplate bent (S1). Glass spheres said by Buckton to be dark blue (one) and light blue (two, and a fragment), semicircular cells translucent dark blue (10B2/2) and star opaque light blue (2.5 B4/2). 28.2mm overall, enamel 18.7mm diameter (S2). Formerly in Hattatt collection (S1)(S2), now sold.
