Full Description

Earthworks on the western side of Wyken Wood: these consist of 3 parallel north-south banks (3-5m wide) with wide depressions (7-10m wide) between them. The sequence from the road edge on the west side is: road, depression rising to a bank with trees on it (including oak pollards), another depression rising to another bank, then a third and wider depression leading to yet another bank. Some of the internal banks have trees growing on them and in at least one place there is a large depression, probably an old sand pit (S1).
Within acient woodland, BAR 061.
Originally Bardwell parish but, since parish boundary changes, now in Stanton.
