Full Description
256 bronze coins associated with fragments of woollen cloth, probably a bag containing the hoard. Previous finds of about 12 or 15 coins from the same spot. Coins not mostly seen, identifications by finder suggest mainly C4 ending with Magnentius (AD 350 - 353). Found with a metal detector (S1). Occasional Rom sherds found in this area (S2).
Two textiles identified: (A) A fine half basket weave (B) Coarser half basket weave (S3).
Total number of coins may have been 251 and 20 fragments. Found in and below ploughsoil to a depth of about 14 inches (S4).
Within a large area of Rom occupation (LKD 003). Coins sold.
