Full Description

Items found over a long period in the Justice Wood Farm area by a former land owner, now retired (S1).
1. Partially bored and roughly shaped implement (also listed under PLS 002), 12. 3cm long by 6. 1cm wide by 2.7cm thick, weighing 0.39 kg. Made of flint (?) with a heavy white patination with grey and reddish-orange staining. Boring is roughly conical with a maximum diameter of 2cm and 1cm deep. Centre of the boring is 7cm from the wider end. Probably a roughout for a shaft hole adze or macehead.
2. Pebble hammer or macehead (also listed under PLS 002) with an hour-glass perforation, made of ? quartzite. Roughly circular 7.2cm by 8cm and 2.5cm thick, weighing 0.22 kg. Central perforation is 2.3cm wide at the top narrowing to 1.1cm in the middle. Date range could be Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age.
