Monument record HAM 017 - Henham Hall (Med)

Linear pond, shown as L-shaped on a map of 1699 (S1), where it is shown as forming the northern boundary of "The Dairy Yard", with several buildings scattered between it and the northern wall of the garden (see HAM 016). Shown in more-or-less its present state on Humphrey Repton's plan of c 1791, where the area to the south is named as "Pidgeon House Yard" (S2). Possibly the remains of a medieval moat -?around the predecessor of Charles Brandon's great courtyard house (see HAM 015).
2008: Method Statement for Time Team non-invasive and invasive work proposed at Henham Park to determine the character and boundaries of the Park over time and the character of sib-surface archaeological remains comprising manor houses known to have existed on the site in the 15th and 16th centuries as well as to investigate the possible location of a proposed early medieval Henham Hall bounded by a linear pond, thought to be the possible remnants of a moat (S4).
