Full Description

Circa 1952: attempted excavation of footing trenches for new bungalow had to be abandoned due to presence of massive foundations including large immovable stone block. Footings (for Sunset Bungalow) actually dug further back. Items discovered included much, probably re-used, stonework amongst which was a large "church" window with "primrose shaped" top, c 1.80 x 0.90 m in size and complete bar one corner. Much stonework kept (some still in rockery) and much re-used in footings, etc. Also large portion of stone coffin lid once in garden (now gone?) of Med form (S1, see parish file).
Site of religious building (one of Wickhambrook's chapels?) or Post- Dissolution building footings re-using (Bury?) monastic stonework?
Evaluation at Moorgreen House (E/93/2039/C) 70m North of WKB 010 - negative - see parish file.
