Full Description

Dark soil layer beneath blown sand observed in small pipe trench & a small test area (1m x 0.5m) excavated. Possible hearth area of Rom tile frags, flat stones & a little burnt clay was found in lower part of layer & large frags of a single plain pottery vessel, handmade, hard, well-fired sandy fabric - probably Early Medieval ware (S1) though dating unsure. Details in (S2).
Situated on the next "sandhill" to the E of WSW 002 excavated settlement. Area [partly] destroyed to S by extraction, landscaping, etc.
