Full Description
Pre 1927: Tranchet Axe in Ashmolean Museum, (S5)
1992: small scatter Mesolithic & Neolithic/Early Bronze Age worked flints. One partially backed blade-knife with re-working, one blade (both probably originally Mesolithic), one scraper (late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age?) and three flakes. Details in (S1).
2004: end-scraper (probably Mesolithic or Neolithic) heavily patinated, scraper face retouched (unpatinated); thick cortex on dorsal face (S3).
2005: considerably larger assemblage (extending into BRD 078) including tranchet axe fragment, possible laurel leaf, 2 oblique arrowheads, 2 chisel type arrowheads and a crude plano-convex knife and one Upper Palaeolithic or Early Mesolithic end-scraper. Details in (S2), also digital photos held. Collection of flint tools, including flakes and blades, mostly Mesolithic/Neolithic. (S3)
2008: TL 7667 8692 retouched flake similar in form to oblique arrowhead but no sharp tip or retouched concave base- perhaps unfinished? (S2).
