Full Description
Assessment excavation by trial trenches prior to development located a layer containing Rom sherds 1.2m below modern land surface in one trench. Stray sherds were also located in other trenches although most of site severely disturbed (by sand & gravel quarrying?) in the post-Roman period. Layer apparently truncated survival or original site of unknown size and character. Datable pottery mainly of C1/C2. (S1)(S2).
