Full Description
January 1990: Initial excavation of area of 1000 sq m fronting Walnut Tree Lane demonstrated heavy C19 disturbance by quarrying - see PMed. Residual finds included Middle and Late Sax pottery (S1). Details to follow. One small area was found undisturbed in the 1000 sq m, which contained two large pits, one of MSax date containing a few sherds of Ipswich ware (S1). Details to follow. No Sax features were discovered in a second area of 250 sq m, excavated in SW corner of plot (S1).
