Full Description
Castling Heath named and shown on J Hodskinson's Map of Suffolk 1783 (S1). Castlings Heath, 29a 3r, belonging to John Webb, named and shown on Tithe Map of 1838 (S2). Shape on record map based on (S2).
Small green with houses on most sides; western half now enclosed and southern extension towards Gosling Green now infilled with houses. Green takes its name from Castlings Hall on its north edge, the probable site of Castelins or Castelyns Manor (owned by Sir Gilbert Chastelyn 1292-3)(S3).
