Full Description

Tree-lined avenue coming out of the west side of the small park around New House (see PSG 005). Shown on J Hodskinson's Map of Suffolk 1783 and on an estate map of 1806 (S1)(S2). Avenue apparently lead nowhere but was presumably for exercise with perhaps a view point at the end. Avenue lay in a field called Church Pasture in 1806, which is probably the same as Church Field or Millfield Pasture mentioned in 1722 (S2).
