Full Description
Hoxne New Park. Deer park (S3) of the Medieval Bishops of Norwich, one of two in Hoxne (for the Old Park see HXN 010). In existence by 1326-7 (S1)(R1). Map of `Hoxon Newe Park' produced by William Stokes for Sir Thomas Southwell in 1619 (S2). In addition to the moated Hoxne Hall within the park (see HXN 016), there was also a lodge on Lodge Hill (see HXN 023). A map of 1757 by T Skynner for Charles, Lord Maynard shows the park enlarged to the S and reduced to the N (see PMed).
