Full Description
c. 1868-1926: There is a broken hand-axe or side scraper from here in very rolled condition ex C R Jennings, Esq.' and also two flakes. Marr describes the pit as being on the opposite side of the road to the stud farm `a little to the South West of the road between Newmarket and Exning'. The surface height is 35m OD and 45m of buff-coloured loam was noted above gravel. Marr also records that worked flints were found in two other pits `800 yds North East of Hamilton Stud Farm', but the only one he describes is a thick flake (S1).
