Full Description
Site of Cosford Union (incorporated hundred) Workhouse. Built 1786 or 1780 (S2), survey and alterations (& enlargement?) 1835/6. Sold in 1923, and workhouse subsequently demolished. Chapel built adjoining NE side of workhouse in 1859. Also demolished.
Engine house adjoined SW side of workhouse. Demolished.
Hospital (built 1869) and other ranges of buildings to NW of former workhouse still shown on 1973 map. School built in 1871. Burial ground SW of workhouse survives (S1).
