Full Description

Rom(?) sherds, fragments of querns, a bronze brooch and a pair of tweezers, noted in `the made earth' above inhumations (see Un)(S1). The pottery is described in (S2) as `black funereal pottery.... and pieces of thick rude black pottery unknown to me'. No mention of a brooch or tweezers in (S2)(S3). `A large quantity of pottery, chiefly Roman, was found over the interments, a bronze tibula, and a pair of tweezers.' (S4). `A common red pan and black olla from this(?) site, are shown on the chart in Watling collection in possession of Miss Nina Layard (now Ipswich Museum)(S5) (S1). Oyster shells were found in considerable abundance (S6).
August 2000: Monitoring (for garage) carried out - negative results (S7).
