Full Description

Field S of footpath with series of earthworks - mainly linear banks and ditches, in area of otherwise mainly flat landscape (S1).
Field named `Old Horse Pasture' (pasture) in tithe apportionment 1842 (S2). `Earthworks' consist of a series of large hollows with baulks of unexcavated ground between them, all grass covered. They appear to be the remains of extractive pits, possibly for brick earth for brick or tile making. The linear pond in the same field may have a similar origin.
See LVM 026 for probable brick/tile kiln nearby.
