Full Description

Partly-polished flint axe found while potato harvesting by Anthony Currie, August 1995. Axe is 16.9cm long and tapers from a 4.6cm wide blade to a 1. 9cm wide butt, 3.3cm thick and 300gm in weight. Patinated flint, damaged cutting edge and recent damage to the butt. A quick piece of fieldwalking by EM et al, in the area of the findspot produced two scrapers and two flakes, all patinated, and the base of a Roman pot (S1).
