Full Description
September 1994: `Called outby owners to examine area to W of house (Street Farm Cottage) - recently purchased as extra garden (to go down to grass) and suspected that their house is E wing of once larger property (possibly Manor of Waylands) - house as existing is early C16 (Grade II listed), timber frame. On area to W of house dense scatter of peg tile, brick fragments, PMed pottery sherds (C16-C20), clay pipe fragments, also 15 body sherds Med coarse ware picked up (C13/C14), plus one spindle whorl (grey stone, ?soft sandstone) - ?Med in date. All finds left with owners. Also shown small (?hand) lava quernstone, circa 25cm diameter and part of large lava quernstone - could be Med or early PMed' (S1).
Note close to large(?) Med & PMed spread to W, BRF 037.
