Full Description

June 1996: Observation of footing trenches, excavated to 1.6m depth, revealed `U' shaped ditch (with preserved organic deposits in base, but no artefacts) overlain by 0.3m thick layer of dark brown sand of C12 date (?, personal communication M Fordham). At least two-thirds of the S end of the site had been destroyed by C19 footings etc. Details in (S1). Within area of Sax(?) & Med town, HWT 015.
