Full Description
Metal detector finds of long cross penny of Edward I (Canterbury mint) and bronze strap end, seen at IMDC meeting (S1).
Copper alloy oval buckle frame, knops where inner bar meets curving outer frame (possibly fragmentary, the straight transverse bar representing the internal bar of a double looped buckle). Fragmentary sheet metal pin. 15th - 16th century.
Hammered silver penny of Henry III, shortcross type. Moneyer Simund of Bury St Edmunds, North Class 7b (1217 - 1242), weight: 1.06 gms.
Cut silver halfpenny of Henry II, shortcross type, London mint. North class 1b (1180 - 1189), weight: 0.76 gms.
Bronze buckle with sheet plate, small, rectangular, similar to MOL Dress Accessories 1991 p. 96 No 437. Medieval.
Silver coin, cut half penny, short cross type, class 6, under Hery III (1210 - 1217). Rev, ..]RI.ON.CC[.. Probably for the moneyer Henri of Canterbury.
Two Roman coins, copper alloy, approx. 3rd century AD.
Early saxon bronze brooch fragment, upper part only, corroded cruciform or small long type (size suggests former?). Remains of iron spring in lug. Head plate has lost original outline. Lines define the sides of a rectangle. Bowl has a flat area with cross grooves (2+2), one intervening rib is beaded, central bow arch is facetted (very corroded). Length 42mm.
Bronze coin, sestertinus, corroded. Obv, …/PIIAVG\... Rev, stg I, leaning on bow to R. Roman 145 - 161AD.
Lead ampulla, battered and bent. Decorated with relief cross (+) in circle on one side, northing visible on the other side.
