Full Description

Metal detector find of blade end of bronze axe. Pronounce expansion and recurving of cutting edge. 66mm wide, 11mm thick and surviving length 35mm. Marked corrosive pitting along blade edge. Straight break across body may have originated as casting flaw. Thin cross section and pronounced expansion are comparable to Arreton form flanged axes (cf the Holywell Row Hoard - MNL Misc) and suggest this is probably part of a flanged axe, although it may come from a MBA palstave. Drawings and details in file (S1).
