Full Description

September 1997: Fieldwalking survey (40m apart transects, 20m stint lengths) of part of Forestry Compartment 4037, located broad scatter of finds, including some small concentrations. Finds included objects of the following periods: Preh - 16 flakes (8 utilised), 3 scrapers, 1 bifacial (Early Bronze Age?) knife fragment, 3 burnt flints and 1 Prehistoric(?) sherd; Roman - 4 sherds; Medieval(?) - 1 fragment of Ketton(?) stone (oolitic limestone) object. Details in (S1).

The Prehistoric finds border on being profuse enough to constitute a site.

Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on details of discovery, (S2).

Formerly recorded as WSW MISC
