Full Description
1997: Fieldwalking of tree planting furrows (40m apart traverses 20m long) by Paul Brooker located scatter of Prehistoric worked and burnt flints. Finds consist of 15 flakes, 19 utilised flakes, 6 cores (1 re-used as hammerstone, 1 burnt), 2 scrapers, 1 knife/scraper and 31 other burnt flints. Variation in patination may(?) suggest more than one period represented.
Also one Roman (?) sherd. Highest lithic and burnt flint densities of any compartment surveyed by Paul Brooker up to the end of 1997. Details in (S1,S2).
