Full Description

2000: trenched evaluation of 10.3 ha area showed land division and trackway of probable Med date. Majority of site used for agriculture, some evidence for mineral extraction. Major ditches revealed match field boundaries on 1837 tithe map. Trackway, of presumed Med date, was either a 'ride' through woodland (north of site) or access to Aldham Common (east of site).
Jan-Feb 2001: Excavation of circa 70m by 45m area in NW part of evaluated area to examine concentration of BA/IA features including a possible droveway and ditched field system, several four-post structures and a possible rectangular building (or adjoing four-posters). Details in (S2) - see Preh.

Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2001 (S4).
