Full Description

Following the laying of pipe trench 6, machine tracks were excavated to investigate evidence of a field system at Ickworth Park. Six ditches were trenched with one producing finds dated C17/C18. Odd sherds of C13/C14 date were also recovered. Evidence suggested some of the fields had been ploughed and some had not. Also suggested part of pre-enclosure field system does survive within the park (S1).

Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2002 (S2
