Full Description

Bank earthwork running NW-SE on east side of warren banks STN 035. Identified by Forestry staff (S1). Not dated. Not shown on OS 1880s map. Visit needed.

May 2018. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The undated bank described above probably equates to the east-west oriented bank visible as an earthwork at this approximate location on imagery from a recent lidar survey (S2). This, and the many other boundaries recorded within what was Downham High Warren, are recorded as part of the more extensive site SHER STN 185. However, it is difficult to be certain, because it is possible that a northwest-southeast oriented bank did exist here, but was levelled prior to the lidar survey being flown. Alternatively, it may be masked on the lidar imagery due to it being parallel to the forestry blocks.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 10th May 2018.
