Monument record LCS 036 - Site of a ring ditch, reinterpreted as a possible saltern mound (LCS 182)

Summary
A ring ditch of unknown but probably Bronze Age date was recorded from cropmarks visible on aerial photographs. The ring ditch was not recognised in a subsequent survey of aerial photographs for this area; the cropmarks probably equate to those interpreted as the remains of a possible ‘red hill’, recorded at this same location (LCS 182).

Full Description
Ring ditch visible from SCC APs, aprpoximately 50m diameter (S1)(R1).
April 2015. Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks of a ring ditch of unknown but possibly Bronze Age date, described above, were not recognised on the aerial photographs consulted by the project. They may have been reinterpreted as the remains of a possible ‘red hill’ (LCS 182).
