Full Description
2001: Evaluation revealed a number of late medieval / early post-medieval pits and 18th/19th century date , associated with backyard occupation of the properties on St Johns street. A large pit contained 12th/14th century pottery. No street frontage structures were recorded (S1).
2002: Excavation revealed the extent of features seen in the earlier evaluation. Monitoring revealed a further two undated pits. The features represent typical backyard domestic activity of late medieval/early post-medieval date. The single 12th/14th century pit is indicative of some earlier small scale activity in this area (S2).
