Full Description
An archaeological evaluation carried out at Chevington Hall prior to the construction of an extension, located a medieval building. This was identified through the presence of a sequence of floors and a probable post setting. The layered floors and the pottery evidence found at the site suggests that there were a number of phases to the building, dating between the 13th and 14th C. The substantial post setting indicates that this was an aisled house and the presence of early medieval roof tiles shows that that there were a number of high status buildings at this site (S1).
