Summary

Large fragments of Roman roof, floor and flue tile and a few greyware sherds recovered from large ditch on north side of ancient woodland (STS 014).

Full Description

Large fragments of imbroc and tegula roof tiles, 2 flue and 1 floor tiles plus 3 greyware shards (1 MCD C3 GMB) found above thich hard packed lager of chalk and flint (with small tile inclusions) visible on north face of large ditch/water course, at circa 2.5 to 3 feet depth, on north side of the former Moseland wood a few large animal bones some with cut marks were found on the (north) opposite bank.
Note: Presumably part of villa complex STS 002 to north but on opposite side of the significant water course.
Finds to be returned to the find spot.
