Full Description

1993: Evaluation carried out to assess area for archaeological potential prior to contruction for post office car park. Buried soil was found sealed below a wind blown sand which was encountered at ERL 023. The buried soil may date from the Iron Age-Roman period and it is possible that Roman or prehistoric ditches could be preserved in or below this soil. A small flint blade was recovered from one test hole and animal teeth were excavated in a peat layer found in the base of a trench. (S1)
