Full Description
1985: Scatter of pottery, coins and brooches, found metal detecting (S1). Coins range C2 - late C4 (? 380's), brooches include C1 types. Sliding steelyard weight (?) in form of a duck, lock pin (S1).
1988, 1989: Trial trench/es excavated by local history group; finds include pottery, one coin (sestertius of Commodus, AD 180-192), a bow brooch and a spatula (S4)(S5)(S8).
1988-1991: Summary of excavations in (S7).
November 1992: Two coarse red tesserae found in excavation by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s).
1994: Drawing of mortarium of DOINVS found in excavation ditch fill in file (S5).
1996: Further WORk was carried out on the Roman dutch system. Two of the ditches curve together to form a wider and deeper ditch. Sporadic dog remains occur (teeth), together with more abundant pig, sheep/goat and cattle bones. Other finds include three coins of carausins, an Aucissa brooch, glass, stamped samian and West Stow wares. For more detail see (S11).
2003, further work cariied out to excavate a ditch, results not known.
2004 geophysics survey by T Dennis, University of Essex - annotated sketch relating to excavated ditches by JF.
Also IA coin, Sax metalwork, various Med & Pmed metalwork.
