Full Description

2014: Evaluation trenching revealed large quarry pits in two of the trenches. The finds suggest an early post-medieval data for the start of this activity. The activity may relate to quarrying for the extraction of chalk or possible marl pits. A single ditch, corresponding to the a ditch visible on the 1903 OS map was also visible (S1). Included in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and History annual round up of individual finds and discoveries for 2014 (S2).
