Full Description
Public house, originally farmhouse. C17 with a C19 brick skin. Plain tile roof, replaced in the C20. Entrance front: 1/2-glazed door at far left and one at right of centre. Three cambered-headed windows at ground floor level of 3 x 2 panes with a slightly projecting plinth of Flemish bond brick. To the attic are, at right of centre, a 5-light casement dormer window and at either side of this 3-light dormers with shallow-pitched roofs. To the ridge at left of centre is a C19 stack of 3 flues and another one to the right hand gable end. Numerous C20 additions to the rear.
Interior: 2-cell plan with chamfered ceiling beams with lamb's tongue end stops and joists and some close studding to the rear wall (S1).
2014:A level 2 written and photographic analysis and record of the Turk’s Head public house, Hasketon to inform a planning for a proposed removal of a 20th century extension on the north (rear) elevation and replacement with a new extension. The Turk’s head was originally a farmhouse and the fabric of the building suggests a 17th century date although there is no cartographic evidence for it until 1802. A single storey extension was added in the 19th century (S2).
